In a nutshell, Nazrul is a highly skilled diversified full stack developer that helps businesses to build Web applications, develop and train the people behind software development teams and advocate new technologies. Nazrul started out as a self-taught programmer, and then transcended as an engineering manager & solutions architect.
Over the years, he has been growing extensively in the areas of product development, people management and technology strategy. With his strong technical abilities, he has a long track record of creating dynamic technology savvy teams. Most recently, he heads a team of software & data engineers at Sparkline, a digital analytics & data company based in Singapore. Joining the company during its initial phase 3 years ago, Nazrul build a remote engineering team across 3 countries, leading a strong driving force in improving the performance, scalability, and reliability of software projects. Together, they’ve successfully developed a variety of enterprise level optimization tools for Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics & Google Tag Manager users.
During his time at Media Prima, he leads the team that is responsible in developing the sustainable content publishing and delivery system for New Straits Times Press editorial groups. Nazrul displayed a solid understanding of business and technology requirements, spearheading strategic innovative initiatives to drive the group’s transformation to a digital first content provider.
Prior to that, he worked as a developer advocate for a location based mobile advertising startup in Singapore. Nazrul is also the founder of Google Developer Groups (GDG) Kuala Lumpur chapter in Malaysia. He started the chapter in 2009 and grew the Malaysian developer community with outreach programs, events and sold-out conferences. Together with a group of passionate friends, they founded the CodeAndroid Malaysia group and played an active role in the early growth of Android developers in Malaysia. He learned a lot about the un-quantifiable value of people that is driven by passion and their mastery in technology.
