Intro to Deep Learning: Spotlight on Deepfakes
Start:September 30, 2019 9:00 am
End:September 30, 2019 11:00 am
Location:ADAX @ Bangsar South
So what exactly is deep learning? How does it work? And most importantly, why should you even care?
Deep learning is an artificial intelligence function that imitates the human brain in processing data and creating patterns for use in decision making.
During our tech talk we will explore Deep Learning and the rise of Deepfakes. A technique for human image creation based on artificial intelligence. Deepfakes are used to combine and cover existing images and videos onto source images or videos using a machine learning technique known as generative adversarial network. The ability of AI to fabricate apparently real footage of people is a growing problem with implications for us all. There are videos on the internet that show people doing things they never did. Real people, real faces, close to photorealistic footage; entirely unreal events.
9:00am – 9:15am: Arrivals
9:15am – 9:35am: Deepfakes and their potential impact on consumers by Erik Moltgen

He has conducted training as well as facilitated training workshops in Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Singapore and various other Asia Pacific countries, focusing in areas of project management, consulting, leadership and strategic management, security, teamwork and other soft skills in addition to Enterprise Computing/Programming, Software Architecture, Big Data, Data Science, and Machine Learning. He is highly energetic and has a strong passion for developing people.
Muhammad Samer Sallam | AI Developer and Trainer
Samer has been working in the field of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and deep learning since 2014.
He has worked in Rachis Systems Sdn. Bhd, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. During his job, he led multiple projects in the field of computer vision using machine learning algorithms and network routing protocol optimization using meta-heuristic optimization algorithms. Now Samer works in Quaking Aspen, Dublin, Ireland to develop a web application for social network and social content analysis using machine learning and deep learning algorithms.
In the research field, the main research interest of him is deep learning algorithms in medical image analysis. At the beginning of 2018, Samer started his master research in the field of computer engineering (artificial intelligence) where he is working on diabetic retinopathy detection from fundus images using the state of art algorithms in the field of deep learning.
As a trainer, Samer conducted more than fifteen training sessions and talks in 2018 about artificial intelligence and data science. He taught Python programming language for beginner and advanced levels. Also, he taught how to use Python advanced modules topic like Tensorflow from google and Pytorch from facebook for deep learning applications, NLTK and spacy for natural processing, and other data science libraries.
iTrain provides high quality IT training solutions in various technology training products and certification.
Established and managed by experienced trainers, our vision is to revolutionize the training industry in the Asia Pacific region starting with Malaysia by making training more affordable, enjoyable and practical in terms of real world usage and localized content.
