iTrain’s Initiative Helped Over 1,000 Teachers Shift Classes Online
The country’s education system fell short of online-readiness when a Movement Control Order (MCO) was announced within the nation to curb the spread of COVID-19.
Schools had to be closed and teachers were encouraged to take their teaching online. Due to the short notice, an alarming number of local teachers were having a hard time making the shift.
Over 6 million students suffered from the MCO as ‘distant learning’ was a rather distant concept for many to comprehend, and so for teachers to implement.
However, a series of webinars conducted by iTrain during the MCO period received over 1,000 teachers, giving schools across the country a new hope.
Shifting gears with Google
Witnessing first-hand effects of the MCO on the education sector, iTrain stepped in and joined hands with the Ministry of Education (MoE) and Google Malaysia to conduct several webinars in hopes of getting local teachers on track for the digitalization of learning and teaching practices.
As a leading Google for Education Partner in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, iTrain designed two comprehensive webinars that equipped educators with knowledge on Google tools like Google Classroom, Drive, Calendar and Hangouts, enabling them to efficiently run classes online.
Communication Revolution – Save time communicating in new ways and Google Classroom Smarter Assignment & Effortless Tracking for All conducted on the 24th and 26th of March respectively were well received by educators all over the country.
Teachers who have attended these webinars are now proficient in leading virtual classrooms whilst ensuring active engagement of students. Teachers are also in favour of the timely distribution of assignments and feedback with beginner-friendly Google resources, all at no cost.
“It was very informative. All the tools that were introduced today were really good. Some of them I already knew, but now I know better,” says Karthigga who is teaching Science and Maths at R.E.A.L School.
Accommodating strong demands from schools and institutions
Having been a training provider with a goal to revolutionize industries through digital transformation, and an expert of customizable training for over 15 years, iTrain went on to host more webinars independently to help more teachers around Malaysia.
Teach and Engage Your Students Online webinar which took place on the 1st and 2nd of April focused on applications of Google tools, where our Google Certified Trainer, Wayne Lim provided progressive guidance on the how-tos of Google tools and answered all queries during the webinar.
The one-hour webinar gathered hundreds of individuals, from private tuition centre operators, to senior Chemistry professors, with the key objective of transforming – for the better.
“We must constantly upgrade ourselves in order to stay relevant in today’s rapidly advancing world. Take some time for self-learning and self-development, professionally, with current tech trends and in-demand skills,” says Eric Ku, Executive Director of iTrain Group.
Integrating G Suite for Education to higher education and beyond
iTrain continues to guarantee highly accessible resources for educators, and therefore will be organising three additional webinars in collaboration with Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), starting on the 6th of April. These webinars will be jam packed with tips and tricks of using more Google tools to get creative and organized in virtual classrooms:
